Twitch: Dual Format Streaming

Twitch's new Dual Format Streaming feature allows you to broadcast both a traditional horizontal stream for web and a mobile-optimized vertical stream at the same time.

This guide will walk you through how to set up Dual Format streaming on Twitch with XSplit Broadcaster.

This Twitch feature is currently in a limited Technical Alpha. Functionality may be limited and is only available to select streamers at this time.

Requirements

Twitch Account: Users with Alpha access to Dual Format streaming.
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 Series (3060 or better) or AMD Radeon RX 6000 (6600 or better) for 1080p dual format streams. AMD Radeon RX 7000 series (7600 or better) for dual format streams in 1440p.

Setting up Dual Format Streaming

Enable Multi Output Mode

On the upper-right drop-down, select Multi Output Mode. Change Output 2's resolution to 1080 x 1920 (16:9).

Enable Multicanvas in Twitch Properties

In your Twitch Properties, enable Enhanced Broadcasting then Multicanvas.

Start your Dual Format stream

Click on either Stream button to start Dual Format streaming. You can also start the Dual Format stream by clicking on your Twitch output from the Broadcast menu/
