Release Notes (March 2026 Release)

We’re rolling out a new XSplit Broadcaster update focused on workflow improvements across the main UI, Preview Editor and live streaming setup. This release also adds support for newer platform features from Twitch and YouTube as well as extending Automatic Background Removal to more source types.

Release Highlights

UI and Top Bar Changes

This release continues the UI work introduced in recent versions with a rework of the top bar and main Stream and Record controls. These actions now sit closer to the rest of your production controls, making them easier to access while setting up, switching layouts or going live.

The top bar flow has also been updated. The Output drop-down is now where you choose which channels are assigned to the main Stream button, while the Record control now sits alongside it with clearer behavior across both Single Output Mode and Multi Output Mode.

In Multi Output Mode, this updated layout also makes more sense as creators manage more than one canvas, aspect ratio or output at the same time.

Revamped Preview Editor

The Preview Editor has been updated to better match the main Broadcaster window and now uses the same scene switching workflow. This replaces Split Mode with a more consistent editing flow.

Instead of treating preview editing like a separate mode with its own scene logic, the new Preview Editor now works more like the main window. Scene buttons behave the same way, switching feels more natural and the overall workflow is more streamlined when preparing changes before pushing them live.

Automatic Background Removal for NDI and Webpage

Automatic Background Removal now works with both NDI and Webpage sources.

This is especially useful for remote guest setups, browser-based feeds and other live production workflows where you want cleaner subject separation without extra steps. For creators bringing in guests remotely, this gives you more flexibility when building interviews, talk shows, podcasts and collaborative streams.

YouTube Dual Stream Support

The YouTube Live plugin now supports YouTube’s Dual Stream workflow, allowing eligible users to stream in both horizontal and vertical formats from XSplit Broadcaster using Multi Output Mode.

This makes it possible to prepare one output for a standard horizontal livestream and another for a vertical feed intended for Shorts-style viewing.

At the time of writing, encoder access to YouTube Dual Stream is still limited to a select number of users. Stream Key credentials must also be copied from YouTube Live Studio manually.

Twitch Stream Details In-App

When streaming to Twitch, you can now enter your broadcast details directly inside XSplit Broadcaster before going live.

The new pre-stream dialog lets you set details such as title, category, tags, stream language, and content classification without leaving the app. This makes it faster to prepare your stream and reduces the need to jump back to the Twitch dashboard for routine setup.
