Interagted IRC

Interagted IRC

by rivers17qb » Mon Oct 03, 2011 11:54 am

Would it be possible to add an IRC plugin to Xsplit? I would assume adding such a feature to monitor all the aspects of ones channel would save on system resources. Currently when I stream, I have Xsplit, the game I am streaming, Mirc, and/or Chrome open to monitor my channel.

You mean it would add more load. Moreover, the development team would most probably want to remain impartial regarding chat/streaming services (i.e., either directly support none or support all), so I expect them not to implement any of them (excluding those with partnerships) to both save on development time and keep the community at rest.

Those windows/applications you listed are standard for a streamer.
Take the effort to directly link to the specific point of the stream if you want to show something.

You could support all of the the streaming services with this. Most of the sites use IRC for their chat system. You would simply need to input your login information, for which ever service you want to monitor, much like any other IRC client.
And no, I do not mean it will add more load. If it is running in Xsplit, I cant imaging it causing as much load as running another program.

Irc and a browser window don't pose a threat to your gaming/streaming experience. While XSplit can present pretty extreme values (e.g., by scaling your viewport you can save almost 10% of system load... weird) and I wouldn't be surprised if load increased significantly with a chat plugin that autoupdated constantly.

And you can't support all sites if only most use one solution...

There is an irc plugin available already.

As well as this, XChat is an excellent way to do it too. Screencap it and crop if you need to.

This has been discussed in the past.

I am not looking to broadcast irc. I was looking for an all in one place to stream and monitor the chat. I saw the plugin you mention and it's not what I am looking for.

Define streaming the chat? My understanding is you want to have something like justin tv, and possibly capture it too.

I was suggesting that Xsplit have it's own integrated IRC client, nothing more than that. Rather than having to use Xchat, Mirc, or whatever IRC client you choose to use, you would log onto say Jtvs irc server with Xplit. Xsplit would then open a IRC chat window.
This suggestion has nothing to do with capturing/streaming it. It's more about Xsplit being an all in one place for not only streaming your content, but being a hub for monitoring your channel.

Rejected (Can be implemented as 3rd party extension later when XSplit API is more complete)
